Information
The mechanical processing of printed circuit boards – in particular the introduction of an increasing number of drill holes – has a significant impact on the accuracy and duration of the entire manufacturing process. Accordingly, materials, processes and equipment for drilling and milling printed circuit boards and, more recently, for creating microvias using laser ablation have undergone rapid development in the past.
The author of the book, who has followed this development for almost three decades and played a key role in it, provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of the art. The individual functional modules of modern drilling machines are described in detail and possible automation options for increasing productivity are presented, as are the tools and tool management.
.The chapter on laser drilling highlights the various process variants and distinguishes the process from conventional drilling. Despite many similarities with drilling, the milling of printed circuit boards is now a completely self-sufficient field of production and is treated as such. Finally, the last chapter describes scribing as a modern process for separating layers.
The book is written by a practitioner for practitioners.
It is aimed at anyone involved in the mechanical processing of printed circuit board manufacturing who wants to familiarise themselves with the latest state of the art.
