Data loggers from Metz Connect and measuring devices from Schneider Electric's PowerLogic family now form a system for energy data acquisition in industrial and building technology.
As part of a new partnership between Metz Connect and Schneider Electric, the EWIO2-M data logger has been supplemented with additional templates and can now be easily and quickly connected to the French electrical engineering group's iEM, PowerTag, PM and ION series measuring devices via the Modbus RTU or TCP interface. The data logger can also be configured via the extended web interface.
The logger enables the recording of measurement data from different media (e.g. electricity, water or heat) supplied by the measuring devices. It has eight meter pulse inputs and an M-Bus interface with integrated level converter for up to 80 M-Bus loads. Additional digital and analog inputs and outputs round off the system.
Energy monitoring with automation functions
The partnership enables operating states and energy data to be brought into a monitoring, evaluation and operating system via a data loggerThecombination resulting from the partnership is suitable for recording energy and consumption as well as for data monitoring in buildings, industrial plants and industrial systems. The multi-protocol capability of this smart metering gateway results from the numerous interfaces and supports users in improving energy management in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 by integrating I&C and HVAC technology into the building management system.
The EWIO2-M data logger combines energy monitoring and building and industrial automation functions in a single device. The digital and analog inputs and outputs are designed to connect sensors and actuators for various tasks in building or industrial automation. Small control tasks can be created directly in the web interface. Complex automation tasks can be generated on the basis of shell or script programming or can be carried out using Modbus or BACnet control.
Smart metering gateway with many interfaces
The data logger's interfaces include two Ethernet ports with daisy chain function for linking several devices (expansion/function modules) and a WLAN interface that enables the device to be configured using mobile devices (e.g. smartphone, tablet or notebook). Parameterization, configuration and commissioning are carried out via an intuitive web interface with a platform-independent web browser. Different meters for electricity, water, gas, heat or other media can be connected and read out at the M-Bus and Modbus RTU interface. The measured values are sent by e-mail (push) or read out by a BACnet or Modbus controller (pull). An integrated micro SD memory card extends the range of functions of the EWIO2-M and can be used to save settings, data and applications as well as a boot drive.
