Automotive electronics manufacturer has been relying on products from a mechanical engineering company for years

Huber Automotive AG has been a customer of the ASYS Group for ten years and uses products from its portfolio in its SMT production lines in Mühlhausen and Süßen. Further ASYS machines have been added in recent years due to an expansion of the site.

Martin Huber, CEO of Huber Automotive AG, explains: "We manufacture up to 100,000 control units per month in our new plant. A production line with an assembly capacity of around 750,000 cph and directly interlinked machines over a length of almost 50 m require maximum reliability from all equipment, and that includes transport and handling equipment. A single standstill for a few hours costs us significantly more than the acquisition costs of the failed device. That's why we only select our equipment based on quality and reliability and have been relying on ASYS for over 10 years for good reason. The design and innovative approaches make the decision in favor of ASYS even easier."

For the newly built SMT line in Süßen, various VEGO handling modules were supplied for loading/unloading the line and for transporting PCBs. Insignum laser marking systems and Serio printing systems were also installed.

"As ASYS has already impressed us several times with its line portfolio, it made sense for us to also rely on ASYS' high standards for the automatic dry tower storage system," says Huber. A Dry Tower Quattro, including the necessary software connection to the ASYS/Totech MES system, was also supplied for the fully automated and space-saving storage of component rolls. The component rolls are stored in a traceable manner and in accordance with the temperature and humidity specifications. All ASYS systems are connected to the Smart Alerts assistance system (formerly Pulse) from the Pulse PRO software suite from ASYS in order to provide the operator with maximum support during production.

Thanks to the successful collaboration over many years, further projects are planned. Among other things, material logistics in production is to be further automated. With the Material Warehouse and the AIVs (Autonomous Intelligent Vehicles), ASYS offers a solution for the temporary storage and transportation of various materials in production. Further SMT lines with various ASYS systems are also planned. Existing systems are to be successively replaced or retrofitted with new, fully automated solutions.

"Due to the dynamic developments of different requirement profiles of individual projects, the close cooperation with Huber Automotive AG is extremely interesting and varied. The partnership-based relationship with our colleagues at Huber Automotive AG is particularly noteworthy. The new challenges require a frequent exchange of ideas so that new solutions can be developed and offered. Despite the sometimes difficult tasks, the cooperation was consistently positive," explains Henrik Brügging, Sales Manager at ASYS.
