Collaborating robots play an important role in the automation trends in electronics production. The Swiss companies Hilpert electronics and Autix will therefore be working together on this topic in future.
Automated production processes that go beyond the classic range of machines and process solutions for the manufacture of electronic assemblies are becoming increasingly important. Hilpert is therefore increasingly focusing its range on fully automated, unmanned production. Collaborating robots play an important role here.
The Swiss system integrator Autix is an innovative partner that has already dealt intensively with this topic and specializes in drive and transport systems, control and special machine construction and the development of software for industrial automation. The company implements automation applications and system solutions for the process industry as well as for machine and building technology.
Synergy effects recognized
Raphael Burkart, Managing Director of Hilpert electronics: "Safety regulations must be observed to the letter "According to Hilpert Managing Director Raphael Burkart, discussions with Autix revealed synergies that can be used to increase the competitiveness of both companies. Although Autix was already familiar with robotics, it first had to familiarize itself with the relevant requirements and guidelines relating to collaborative robots. This is because established and easy-to-integrate standard safety equipment is often not sufficient as soon as the cobots are used in a shared working environment with humans - this applies in particular when health-sensitive end products and preliminary products are to be handled.
"One impressive example is when a cobot handles razor blades next to a human at eye level," explains Burkart. "Safety regulations must be strictly adhered to here, but this can limit the cobot's flexibility. Some customers therefore prefer to opt for a traditional robot."
The two partners therefore rely on the Cobot Techman from the Taiwanese manufacturer of the same name because it offers a wide range of advantages. It can be operated intuitively and is therefore comparatively uncomplicated. It can also perform more complex functions rather than just monotonous tasks. This enables the automation of many specific processes. This has the potential to increase the efficiency of processes and ultimately a company.
Creativity and know-how essential
The Techman cobot already has a wide range of interfaces. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of relevant experience and, accordingly, clearly defined solutions. The integration of a cobot into a production line is therefore a complex process that requires creativity and know-how. Especially with the transport solutions from B&R offered by Autix or the Scara and articulated arm robots from Comau, new possibilities arise in cooperation with Hilpert.
The Autix automation experts were therefore interested in selling the Cobot themselves right from the start. "We are actively promoting the Cobot in central Switzerland with marketing campaigns," reports Sascha Ming, one of the managing directors of Autix. The Hilpert Robotics Breakfast and similar events will now also be held at Autix's premises. Customers have already shown great interest in these events. The organizing partners hope to find interested parties for initial project configurations at these events.
