FED Conference 2025 in Lübeck - Strong connections for electronics

On September 24 and 25, 2025, the electronics industry will meet in a Hanseatic maritime atmosphere at the 33rd FED Conference, our forum for knowledge transfer, networking and strategic dialog. The conference app with all dates has been activated and a 10% early bird discount will be granted on all registrations until July 21.

On September 24, CEO Dieter Müller will open the 33rd FED Conference in LübeckUnderthe motto "Strong Connections", the conference will bring together developers, manufacturing specialists, software providers and decision-makers from the entire value chain. The program includes 48 specialist presentations in four parallel slots, practice-oriented workshops and an accompanying exhibition with 42 stands. Experts from design and production, software companies and specialized suppliers will be presenting themselves here.

Two high-profile keynotes will provide forward-looking impetus: renowned brain researcher Dr. Henning Beck will show what makes human thinking different from algorithms. Hamburg tech entrepreneur Manfred Garz will talk about the opportunities in a time of upheaval and disruption.

New this year: several English-language presentations will make it easier for international guests to attend the conference and promote European exchange.

For years, the FED Conference has stood for practical knowledge, lively discussions and personal encounters. The aim is to promote understanding and cooperation along the entire electronics value chain - for a strong, resilient and sustainable industry in Germany and Europe.

Dieter Müller, CEO of the FED: "Let's look ahead together, share ideas and boost confidence. Our industry thrives on cooperation, openness and the courage to try new things."

Cyber security and safety: regional meeting shows need for action

Die Leiter der FED-Regionalgruppe Düsseldorf, Kostas Mouselimis und Hanno Platz, werden nützliche Informationen für die FED-Mitglieder zusammenstellenThe leaders of the FED Düsseldorf regional group, Kostas Mouselimis and Hanno Platz, will compile useful information for FED membersOnApril 30, the Düsseldorf regional group of the FED met for a well-attended event at TÜV Rheinland in Cologne, hosted by regional group leaders Hanno Platz and Kostas Mouselimis. High up on the 18th floor, in bright sunshine and with a sweeping view over the city, one of the most important topics in electronics development was discussed: Cyber resilience and functional safety.

The reason: EU Regulation 2024/2847 (Cyber Resilience Act, CRA) requires all manufacturers of electronic products with digital elements to implement comprehensive security measures from December 11, 2027. As the harmonized standards required for this are still being developed, many companies are faced with unanswered questions.

Thomas Steffens from TÜV Rheinland presented the development of TÜV and explained the interplay between cyber security and safety. Arnt Karbaum from automotive supplier Kostal Automotive reported on how he and his team have established a company-wide management system for cyber security - a project with strategic implications. Florian Kiel, also from TÜV Rheinland, showed how functional safety and cyber security must be considered together in order to effectively protect both people and products.

Regulatory requirements from the EU Radio Systems Directive (RED) were also addressed - relevant for many IoT products. The discussions clearly showed that the requirements are diverse and affect almost all product groups.

Conclusion: Anyone who has not yet integrated cyber security and functional safety into their development processes should act now - and get expert support. "The FED will continue to work on the topic and will compile useful information for FED members," announce regional group leaders Hanno Platz and Kostas Mouselimis.

Austrian Electronics Day 2025: Successful. Going further.

The Austrian Electronics Day organized by the FED trade association has established itself as a fixture in the Austrian electronics landscape.

For the third time, more than 100 experts from the Austrian electronics industry gathered in Brunn am Gebirge on May 15, 2025 to discuss current developments and future topics in design and production.

Seven practical presentations provided impetus on trends, challenges and solutions in electronics production - from process optimization to technological change. The open exchange between colleagues and the intensive networking in a relaxed atmosphere were particularly appreciated.

The choice of location - the Weber Grill Academy - gave the event a special setting. The highlight was the barbecue show with world champion Patrick Bayer, which provided culinary highlights and social interaction.

"The day showed how much innovative strength there is in the Austrian electronics industry," emphasized Jürgen Braunsteiner, FED board member and initiator of the event.

Review of the PCB Designer Day: performance meets layout

"High Power, High Performance: Electronics for the challenges of tomorrow" was the motto of the FED's 13th PCB Designer Day in Seefeld - one of the central platforms for know-how transfer and community building for PCB designers.

Around 80 participants took the opportunity to find out about the challenges of high-power design in specialist presentations: from thermal management and EMC-compliant layout to insulation strategies and power integrity. The speakers from industry and practice showed how increasing requirements can be implemented reliably and in compliance with regulations in PCB design.

One highlight was the exclusive production tour of the TQ Group plant - host and industry partner of the event. The combination of further training, practical relevance and open dialog provided participants with valuable inspiration for their day-to-day work.

The evening before, a joint business dinner had already kicked off the exchange in a relaxed atmosphere - a successful start to an energetic day.
