Electronics manufacturers share excess stock

They say that there are always opportunities in a crisis: Perzeptron has initiated a free component marketplace. A+B Electronic, Eckelmann and Phytec, among others, have already pledged their support and uploaded components for sale.

"The current component shortage is hitting us hard. It is important that we SMEs stick together in this situation. The idea for the MiG Stock-DB came about in a conversation with Perzeptron and Phytec and we are delighted that it was implemented so quickly." Dagmar Sünner, Head of Purchasing, Phytec Messtechnik GmbH

Andreas Koch, Mitgründer und Geschäftsführer Perzeptron GmbHAndreas Koch, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Perzeptron GmbHAllocationand supply bottlenecks determine the situation in purchasing for electronics manufacturers. Valuable working time and money are lost due to the difficult procurement of components - not to mention dissatisfied customers due to late deliveries. At the same time, companies are tying up a lot of capital in stocks that have accumulated due to large packaging units, unrealized production orders or for other reasons.

"Now the electronics industry has to stick together," thought Andreas Koch and Markus Renner, Managing Directors of the management consultancy Perzeptron. With the MiG Stock-DB, they have developed a free platform on which electronics manufacturers can offer excess stock and components that are no longer required. Unneeded components are recorded in the database and offered for sale. They can be displayed via the availability check of the MiG - Materials Management in Balance software tool and direct contact can be made with the supplier.

A+B Electronic, Eckelmann and Phytec as well as other companies in the industry have already pledged their support and uploaded components for sale. Perzeptron is now calling on other companies to take part.

Focus on critical components

MiG is a docking solution for existing ERP systems that uses dashboards for purchasing, production planning, sales and management to provide a company-wide and transparent overview of customer and production orders, the purchasing situation and worklists. Since version 4.00, it has offered a fully automated availability check for components. Users can see at a glance which components are jeopardizing the timely production of a manufacturing order. With a click of the mouse, they can see where the critical component can be procured as an alternative, at what price and in what quantity. In addition to authenticated, direct connections to well-known distributors, catalog distributors such as DigiKey, Farnell and Mouser are also directly connected. MiG also offers access to anonymous Internet search results, for example from Octopart. From now on, components from the MiG Stock-DB will also be displayed.

"A fair platform for the exchange of no longer needed components in the electronics industry - suppliers and buyers benefit equally. That's why we immediately pledged our support" Sven Kapmeyer, Commercial Director Assmy & Böttger Electronic GmbH

Alternative procurement with one click

Markus Renner, Mitgründer und Geschäftsführer Perzeptron GmbHMarkus Renner, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Perzeptron GmbHTheupdate of MiG - Materialwirtschaft im Gleichgewicht to the current version 4.04 will be rolled out to existing Perzeptron customers in the coming weeks. Companies that want to sell their excess stock and are not yet using a MiG license will receive a free 3-month trial installation of the intelligent ERP tool on request - including connection to their ERP system. In this way, they also benefit from the availability check and the other functionalities of the software. According to the manufacturer, MiG can be connected easily and without risk and can be used within a very short time - for clerks and decision-makers alike.

Registration and component upload in just a few steps

The MiG Stock-DB online portal is used to register and transfer component data in just a few steps: Once the account has been activated, a template is available for download, which can be used to prepare the component data as an Excel list for entry in the database. The upload is then also carried out via the website. By registering suppliers, Perzeptron ensures that no dealers or brokers use the tool. "We are making MiG Stock-DB available free of charge to promote solidarity in the electronics industry - which is more necessary than ever right now. We want to avoid unfair mark-ups, which some retailers around the world use to exploit the difficult availability of components and the plight of electronics manufacturers," agree Andreas Koch and Markus Renner. That is why they are also asking all participating companies to set moderate prices with compensation for expenses and only small, reasonable margins.
