Two new fully encapsulated miniature microswitches are coming from Omron Electronic Components: D2GW and D2AW are compact and flexible solutions for applications exposed to splash water or heavy dust. Both are suitable for vending machines, smart meters, EV charging stations, security systems, HVAC systems, white goods and similar applications where space is at a premium.
D2GW is sealed to IP67 and can be operated up to 85 °C. With its small size (8.3 × 6.5 × 5.3 mm), it is one of the smallest switches of its kind. It is available with a choice of mountings, actuators and connection specifications. Options include press-fit terminals for solderless PCB installation as well as solder and PCB terminals and overmolded wire leads. Thanks to the symmetrical shape, with the push button in the center, the levers can be mounted in both directions.
A new version of the standard D2AW basic switch, also sealed to IP67, has compact dimensions (13.3 × 7.0 × 5.3 mm) and a high insulation resistance of 100 MΩ. The D2AW-R version has an integrated internal resistor that enables the detection of four states: on, off, open circuit and short circuit. The switches are available with solder terminals, spade connectors and molded cables.
D2GW and D2AW have a special contact design to maximize performance. Sliding contacts ensure quiet operation and high contact reliability, wiping away dust and other contaminants. Both switches have double contacts to increase reliability.
