For particularly demanding applications, Schukat has added the new ZU series of polymer hybrid capacitors from Panasonic Industry with remarkable ripple current and temperature characteristics to its range. Thanks to a reduction in power dissipation, the ZU series is able to withstand ripple currents up to 53% better than its predecessors in the ZS series.
With a diameter of 10 x 12.5mm at 25VDC, it achieves 5 Arms, with 10 x 16.5mm correspondingly 5.8 Arms (at +125 °C). In addition to the improved current dissipation, the capacitors are characterized by a temperature resistance of 4,000 hours at 135 or 125 °C and thus achieve one of the highest tolerances currently available in the industry. With its high temperature tolerance and capacitance of 100 to 560 µF at 25 to 63 VDC, the series is particularly suitable for 48V applications in the automotive sector as well as integrated starter generators (ISG), DC/DC applications, oil and water pumps or fan motors. The new capacitors are therefore AEC-Q200 compliant and available in a vibration-resistant version for harsh environments. Other areas of application include modern communication and industrial devices as well as power supplies.
