Design only with available components

A new solution for managing component data supports designers so that they do not design in discontinued or unavailable components. The scalable management solution mediates between the design tool and PLM, ERP or order database systems.

Simple search parameters can be used to find the required components from distributors in real timeWhendeveloping electronics, designers do not just have to consider the technical properties. This is because commercial and logistical parameters of components such as delivery time, approvals, stock levels and price are playing an increasingly important role in development. In many companies, other departments are responsible for this information and the developer does not have direct access to it.

The Omnya Integration Platform is a new and comprehensive solution for managing component data. It is a scalable management solution between Cadence development tools and the company data used in PLM, ERP or order database systems. Omnya is deeply integrated into the design environment and shows the developer all necessary information about the components in his development environment. The interfaces to the company's information sources can be easily configured. Omnya can be installed in a secure cloud or locally on a server.

Once the information is available, developers and purchasers can quickly define alternative components and display them on parts lists with preferences. If changes to a component become known via a Product Change Notification (PCN), information such as the End of Life (EOL) or a die-shrink is immediately available to the developer in his environment. Depending on the change in component status, a where-used report can be used to display all designs in which the affected component has been installed. This means that redesigns of assemblies can be planned at an early stage.

In order to obtain up-to-date component information, this data can be queried in real time from component distributors such as Arrow, Digikey, Mouser and others using a stored login. The search for new components is carried out in the design environment with the data record of a distributor and the components can be imported into the development library using a four-eye principle.

The management of so-called additional parts, such as a heat sink, thermal paste, screws and the firmware for an FPGA can be attached to the component. By managing the various revisions, it is possible to ensure that all required components appear on the parts list. Revision management also provides the ability to define and track changes to footprints for different soldering processes in a central library.

The cloud used for Omnya uses 100% renewable energy and is certified to the required standards for quality, environment, data security and privacy. FlowCAD offers a free trial of the Omnya Platform.
