10,000 hydrogen generators per month

Cleantech company Enapter has celebrated the ground-breaking ceremony for its future mass production facility for electrolysers to generate green hydrogen in Germany. The Enapter Campus is being built on 82,000 square meters in the climate community of Saerbeck (north of Münster) in North Rhine-Westphalia and will be supplied entirely with local renewable energies.

The aim is to achieve a production capacity of 10,000 units per month from 2023 in order to meet the dynamically growing demand for solutions for green hydrogen production.

According to current plans, the Enapter Campus will cost around 105 million euros. Construction partner Goldbeck is following a tight schedule so that a gradual start of production can take place as early as the fourth quarter of 2022. The first customer deliveries from automated mass production are scheduled for 2023. According to current planning, around 300 new jobs will be created in Saerbeck. The automated mass production of electrolysers will ensure that the costs of the devices fall and green hydrogen quickly becomes competitive. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia is providing around 9.36 million euros to support the construction of the machinery required for mass production.

Enapter, which was founded just a few years ago, already supplies customers in over 40 countries worldwide with its own standardized and patented AEM electrolysers, which are particularly flexible to use. From 2022, Enapter will combine 420 of the electrolysis stacks in the AEM Multicore hydrogen generator, which will reach the megawatt scale for the first time.
