Varta pulse is the most efficient AC-coupled energy storage system for photovoltaic (PV) systems with an installed capacity of five kilowatt peak. This is the conclusion of the 2021 Energy Storage Inspection conducted by the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW Berlin).

As part of the study, the researchers examined the energy efficiency of 20 PV storage systems. The storage system delivered top results for both battery efficiency at 98% and standby consumption of just two watts.

Efficiency is one of the most important criteria when evaluating and selecting PV storage systems. The higher the efficiency, the lower the losses and the greater the contribution to climate protection. Furthermore, an efficient storage system helps to increase the return on investment for homeowners. One of the most important key figures here is efficiency: the average battery efficiency of the Varta pulse of 98% shows that only very low conversion losses occur during the energy conversions in the energy storage system. The result corresponds to the highest battery efficiency that has ever been measured as part of the energy storage inspections.
