Around three quarters of Germans are willing to change their everyday habits to protect the climate. 48% have a guilty conscience about being climate sinners and almost as many know too little about how they can reduce their own impact on the climate catastrophe. These are the results of the 2021 Energy Trend Monitor: Stiebel Eltron surveyed 1000 citizens on a representative basis.
The new Energy Trend Monitor shows that the German population is taking the personal energy transition seriously. 62% now see the risks of a climate catastrophe with completely different eyes following the pandemic experience. One of the most important levers that private households can use to improve climate protection is to stop using oil and gas burners in the boiler room. In a classic single-family home, theCO2 emissions of a heat pump heating system are less than a third of those of an oil condensing boiler - powered by green electricity, the heat pump's greenhouse gas emissions even drop to practically zero.
