Hydrogen strategy for the Chemnitz model region

Hydrogen strategy for the Chemnitz model region

Together with its consulting subsidiary consulting4drive, DBI Gas- und Umwelttechnik GmbH and the Reiner Lemoine Institute, IAV is developing a hydrogen strategy for the Chemnitz model region. The aim is to use H2 technology in the mobility and heating sector and to support the transformation of Saxony's automotive industry.

Hydrogen is a key element for climate protection and thus also for the value creation of the future. On behalf of the city of Chemnitz, which is supported by the hydrogen cluster HZwo e.V., the Berlin-based tech solution provider IAV is working with three other partners until September 2023 to develop a strategy for the future use of hydrogen in the region in the southwest of the Free State of Saxony. The development of the hydrogen region is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport with a total of up to 400,000 euros as part of the HyLand competition, a funding instrument of the National Innovation Program for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP2). The funding guideline is coordinated by NOW GmbH and implemented by Project Management Jülich (PtJ). The four partners were awarded the contract for the consulting project in a tender by the HyExpert model region (Chemnitz and the districts of Zwickau, Central Saxony, Vogtland and Erzgebirge).
