Dematic, a logistics company based in Atlanta, Georgia (USA), is automating two temperature-controlled warehouses belonging to Americold Logistics LLC. The company specializes in temperature-controlled supply chains for services and food.
The integrated solution from Dematic comprises a Dematic high-bay warehouse with Dematic storage and retrieval machines for pallets, as well as a Dematic Multishuttle for buffering and sequencing. The system thus covers the entire supply chain: Incoming goods, automatic depalletizing, tray handling, sorting, automatic pallet collation, dispatch sequencing and ergonomic order picking. The combination of these subsystems is managed and controlled by the Dematic iQ software. This makes the solution one of the most effective and compact for handling mixed pallets on the market and ensures significantly more efficient intralogistics processes for one of Americold's major food retail customers.

The combined solution of Dematic high-bay warehouse, Dematic storage and retrieval machines and Dematic Multishuttle enables automated palletizing of mixed items while ensuring the optimal composition of shipping pallets. This means that Americold requires fewer trucks for transportation and can stock its store shelves as quickly as possible thanks to the shelf-ready composition.
