The DGO in Stuttgart kicked off the new year with two presentations. On 20 February 2025, Lea Breu from Robert Bosch Manufacturing Solutions GmbH spoke about the influence of current intensity and process time on the chemical and physical properties of an aluminum oxide layer. Aluminium parts in the hydrogen sector are often anodized to increase corrosion resistance. From an industrial point of view, the manufacturing costs, which correlate with the anodizing parameters, are decisive. The presentation focused on the correlation between current intensity, the resulting change in process time, corrosion resistance and the hydrogen permeation of anodizing layers. Riesmetall Managing Director Joachim Ramisch then spoke on the topic of "A life for electroplating. The adventures of a contract electroplater - Part 2: Less is more. How to get off the 3-shift drug". He described the structural change in his company in the face of market shifts. His approach: downsizing and adapting existing production lines to the needs of a small local market. A report on Ramisch's measures to downsize his business will appear in the next issue of Galvanotechnik, based on his presentation at the Oberflächentage in Leipzig.
