Green energy supply in the Americas

The Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF's Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, has converted its power supply for its Blackman Township production site in Jackson County, Michigan, USA, to 100 percent renewable energy. The energy supplied by partner BASF Renewable Energy is generated from a range of renewable energy sources, including solar and wind power. This will result in a reduction inCO2 emissions of approximately 950 tons in the current year 2025.

The partnership with BASF Renewable Energy reflects Chemetall's commitment to more sustainable solutions and its ongoing efforts to utilize sustainable and renewable power sources across its 16 manufacturing sites worldwide. Through the virtual power purchase agreements (vPPAs) agreed with BASF Renewable Energy, Chemetall will cover the total annual electricity consumption of approximately 2,500 MWh in Blackman Township.
