Green hydrogen at Fraunhofer

Schulung an der Referenzfabrik.H2

The all-rounder hydrogen will play a key role in the energy transition. Using electricity from renewable sources (e.g. wind and solar energy), electrolysers split water into oxygen and (green) hydrogen to store energy. When the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing, fuel cells use the hydrogen to generate electricity again without any harmful emissions. This reconversion into electricity is also of great importance for emission-free mobility.

Around 30 companies are already part of the Referenzfabrik.H2, a pacemaker for the industrial mass production of electrolysers and fuel cells. Industrial companies and the Fraunhofer Institutes IWU and ENAS see themselves as a value creation community that works hand in hand on the rapid ramp-up of efficient, scalable production of hydrogen systems. HyVentus and HyVictus, the reference stacks for electrolysers and fuel cells, have already been developed in close cooperation between science and industry. With the H2.Block (showcase and transfer center) and the H2.Lab (test center), Refernzfabrik.H2 is now expanding its range of services for companies that want to get involved in the production of future-oriented hydrogen systems.
