Industry and business should help shape the future

Fraunhofer Research Fab Battery Cells is launching its collaboration with industry and business with a consortium workshop in Aachen: The aim of the workshop "Industrial Battery Cell Production" on December 9, 2020 is to define the needs of industry and business and to align the range of services offered by Fraunhofer Research Fab Battery Cells accordingly - along the entire value chain of battery cell production. Representatives from all relevant branches of industry can register.

The Fraunhofer Research Fab Battery Cell, a new branch of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT, is to become the center for the development of modern and scalable battery cell production for Germany and Europe at the Münster site. To ensure that production in Germany can provide new battery technologies more efficiently, at lower cost and in the highest quality in the future, the federal government and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia are providing a total of 700 million euros in funding for the development of battery cell research production. The Fraunhofer battery cell research production facility provides a research and production infrastructure with which small and medium-sized companies, as well as large companies and research institutions, can test, implement and optimize the near-series production of new batteries. This will enable industry and business to produce battery cells more economically and ecologically.

The focus of Fraunhofer battery cell research production will be closely aligned with the needs of industry and business. This is the topic of the first consortium workshop in December. At the free workshop, a consortium from industry and research will be formed to define the requirements for battery cell production on the part of the various economic sectors.
