Anna Hauswirth, Master's graduate in Laser and Plasma Technology at the Göttingen Faculty of Engineering and Health at the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen, has published the results of her Master's thesis on the decontamination of food as first author in the September issue of the specialist journal "Foods"(www.mdpi.com/2304-8158/11/18/2786).
As part of her Master's thesis, she and her co-authors from the faculty investigated the influence of plasma treatments on sugar. The results showed that short-term plasma-based treatment methods can be used to decontaminate food without significantly breaking down the sugar it contains.
