As a cross-sectional and key technology relevant to the future, lightweight construction makes a decisive contribution to creating economically successful climate and resource protection. With the establishment of the State Agency for Lightweight Construction BW in 2013, the state government has enabled the topic of lightweight construction to establish itself and flourish. Over the past ten years, Leichtbau BW has further developed the understanding of lightweight construction across all sectors and intensified cooperation between science and industry. It has carried out important pioneering work in its field and has done so at exactly the right time.
Against the backdrop of current developments - particularly at federal level - the state government has decided to realign the state's support for the innovation topic of lightweight construction. Against this backdrop, the state government has decided to end the operational activities of Leichtbau BW on December 31, 2022 and to transfer the promotion of lightweight construction in the state to a new format. However, the innovation topic of lightweight construction will continue to be a high priority in Baden-Württemberg in view of the constantly increasing pressure to innovate resource- and energy-efficient technologies.
The Leichtbau BW team will remain available at its usual address during the first quarter of 2023.
