Kiesow: Boric acid-free, weakly acidic bright zinc process of the latest generation

In addition to the tried and tested Azur HT 5 process, Kiesow Oberflächenchemie is now introducing another weakly acidic zinc electrolyte of the latest generation, Azur HT BF. Both systems are free of ammonium and alkylphenol compounds, AOX, complexing agents and highly flammable additives. Azur HT BF is a boric acid-free process in which boric acid can be dispensed with in the application. An environmentally friendly alternative to boric acid is already contained in the base additive, which makes bath management considerably easier. In addition, both systems can also be used with a single-component additive. With this latest generation development, the layer thickness distribution in particular can be optimized compared to conventional zinc processes.

Comparison of Hull cell tests at 1, 1.5 and 2 amperes for 10 minutes (basic composition: 30 g/L zinc, 140 g/L chloride, 25 g/L boric acid or 35 g/L zinc, 145 g/L chloride, boric acid-free) Other special features:

  • Suitable for barrel and rack applications
  • High temperature stability due to a high and stable cloud point
  • High-gloss, ductile and adhesive coatings
  • Excellent gloss depth distribution
  • Very high scorch resistance
  • Excellent metal distribution with outstanding scattering and covering properties
  • Low foam development with air-moving operation
