As a direct contribution to climate protection, Clariant's Vita products help to substitute fossil carbon in the value chain with carbon from renewable sources. The introduction of 100% bio-based surfactants and PEGs represents a significant expansion of the Muttenz-based company's ingredients. They have a so-called Renewable Carbon Index (RCI) of at least 98%.
Vita products are geared towards natural formulations that aim for a high RCI. They help manufacturers to maximize the bio-based carbon content in consumer products such as detergents, hair and body shampoos, but also in industrial applications such as paints, industrial solvents and coatings.
Clariant obtains 100% of the bioethanol used to produce the ethylene oxide for its innovative new surfactants and PEGs from sugar cane or corn. The bio-based material runs through a completely separate value chain from the field to the finished product.
