Nano start-up SALD opens up to investors

The Dutch company SALD BV (Eindhoven), a specialist in the surface technology "Spatial Atomic Layer Deposition" (SALD), is opening up to investors for the first time. The multi-patented process for applying coatings that are as thin as a single atom on an industrial scale is seen as having great application potential. As in the previous year, the company expects turnover to double in 2022.

Nanocoatings, which are made up of stacked atom-thin layers of different substances, are the key technology for solar panels with maximum efficiency, organic electronic chips with 5 to 7 nanometer structures, ultra-thin tear-resistant packaging films, technotextiles with innovative properties and batteries that power electric cars for well over 1,000 kilometers without recharging. The necessary cross-sectional technology of "Spatial Atomic Layer Deposition" (SALD) is on the threshold of industrial mass production after decades of laboratory research. The new capital will be used to expand research and production.
