After 15 years as Chairman of the German Museum of Electroplating Association, the two Chairmen Thilo von Vopelius (1st Chairman) and Dr. Ulrich Vieweger (2nd Chairman) have decided to retire from day-to-day business for reasons of age. The new election and the change in the Executive Board were carried out at the General Meeting on March 12, 2025. Dr. Thomas Krümmling, Managing Director of TZO Leipzig GmbH, and Michael Stoffers, Managing Director of Vopelius Chemie AG, were unanimously elected as the new Chairmen. The other board members Frank Schaale (Technical Director), Peter Schaale (Youth and Career Director) and Marion Regal (Treasurer) remain in office and will actively and purposefully support the new chairmen in all matters.
Krümmling thanked the two outgoing chairmen, v. Vopelius and Vieweger, for their many years of commitment in managing the association and for bringing the museum together with the team to a level that is recognized by the German and Saxon Museum Association. They were also the ones who founded the association in 2010. Together with Schaale, he presented each of them with a photo book containing photo documents from 15 years of association work as a memento and a bouquet of flowers. They will not be leaving the board completely immediately, but will continue to support the new chairmen for a while and contribute their experience. Krümmling and Stoffers will continue to work with the team on a number of issues, such as generating funding and donations, updating the museum concepts with the museology department of the University of Applied Sciences for Technology, Economics and Culture, as well as discussions with Dr. Anselm Hartinger, Director of the Museum of City History in Leipzig, to explore the possibility of sponsorship.
