For small, two-layer PCB designs: Nordic Bluetooth 5.2 SoC

The nRF52805 SoC (System-on-Chip) from Nordic, a new addition to the Rutronik range, supplements the nRF52 series with a type in WLCSP that is optimized for small two-layer PCB designs. It is particularly suitable for small and cost-effective designs. Previously, four-layer PCBs were required for this purpose, which resulted in significantly higher costs. The nRF52805 SoC is equipped with an Arm Cortex M4 processor clocked at 64 MHz. It offers 192 KB Flash and 24 KB RAM and integrates a number of analog and digital interfaces, such as a 2-channel 12-bit ADC, SPI, UART and TWI.

Measuring 2.48 x 2.46 mm, the nRF52805 SoC is Nordic's smallest package for dual-layer PCB designs and is ideally suited for use in beacons, disposable medical devices (ingestible diagnostic capsules), sensors, styli and presenters. In addition, Nordic offers a 9.5 x 8.8 mm reference layout with all ten available GPIOs (General Purpose Input/Output) requiring only ten external passive components (including two quartz load capacitors).

The new SoC supports Bluetooth Low Energy and proprietary 2.4 GHz protocols. Data is transmitted faster and more efficiently thanks to the possible Bluetooth throughput of 2 Mbit/s. In addition, the Bluetooth Channel Selection Algorithm No. 2 (CSA No. 2) reduces interference and improves coexistence. The radio module has a transmission power of up to 4 dBm and a sensitivity of -97 dBm (1 Mbit/s Bluetooth LE). The nRF52805 is supported by SoftDevice S112 and S113: memory-optimized, memory-only peripherals with Bluetooth Low Energy protocol stacks that simultaneously serve up to four connections with one broadcaster.
