electronica 2020 takes place digitally

Messe München is organizing the world's leading trade fair and conference for electronics as a virtual event this year. The current tightening of travel restrictions in Europe has necessitated a rethink in planning. The digital format of electronica in November enables exhibitors to book digital exhibition stands. electronica virtual also offers all customers further opportunities for exchange and networking. Large parts of the conference and supporting program will also be available digitally.

The current developments surrounding the coronavirus pandemic led to Messe München's decision to hold electronica virtually this year. Due to the travel restrictions now in place for numerous visitor and exhibitor countries, the world-leading trade fair character of electronica would not be given next November. Falk Senger, Managing Director of Messe München, explains: "Even if an in-person trade fair could have taken place with our protective and hygiene measures, the current developments regarding new travel restrictions in numerous countries have forced us to rethink our planning. We are adapting to this dynamic situation and are now focusing on the virtual format. International exhibitors and visitors are the core of electronica. Under the current Covid-19 conditions, we would not have been able to meet this expectation with an in-person trade fair."

Kurt Sievers, CEO NXP Semiconductors and Chairman of the Advisory Board of electronica, says: "After reassessing the situation, I consider Messe München's decision to be very appropriate and responsible. We are pleased that electronica virtual now offers a concept for 2020 that enables exhibitors to reach their international customers even during the ongoing difficult pandemic phase. Exhibitors can use the digital platform to present their innovations, find out about industry trends and network efficiently with customers and suppliers."

Christoph Stoppok, Head of Components, Mobility & Systems at the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI): "The electronics industry with its solutions is one of the major drivers of digitalization. Let's take advantage of the industry's innovative strength and meet virtually this year. Especially now, it is important to promote exchange in the industry in order to regain economic momentum."

Online trade fair with virtual product presentation and supporting program

The virtual format of electronica will offer the electronics industry a platform for global industry exchange this coming November. The various offerings include virtual trade fair stands. This allows exhibitors to reach their international customers despite travel restrictions and convince them of their products and solutions. The virtual exhibition will be complemented by a digital conference and supporting program. Individual presentations and discussion panels on trend topics such as automotive, embedded, IIoT, 5G, medical electronics and smart energy will be available online.
