Hexagon, the provider of sensors, software and autonomous solutions, has acquired CAEfatigue Limited. CAEfatigue provides fatigue simulation solutions that improve the design, quality and reliability of products.
Industrial products are exposed to a variety of influences during their life cycle that can lead to material fatigue and thus to safety problems and even failure of the component. With the fatigue calculation of digital twins, manufacturers and developers can predict the service life of products and influence the quality of the finished products even before the start of production.
The CAEfatigue software suite, including the flagship product CAEfatigue Vibration, is characterized by high computing speed and accuracy. The software works in the frequency domain and can therefore predict the qualitative system behavior faster, more precisely and more intuitively than would be possible with calculations in the time domain. The solutions are used, for example, in vehicle construction and in the aviation industry and can be combined with programs for computer-aided engineering (CAE).
CAEfatigue's technologies complement Hexagon's smart factory portfolio and also complement its portfolio of smart industrial facility solutions. Founded in 2012 and based in the UK, the CAEfatigue team will operate as part of Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division. The acquisition will have no material impact on Hexagon's revenues.
