Light-curing adhesive systems for electromobility

Light-curing adhesive systems for electromobility

At this year's CWIEME from May 14 to 16, 2024 in Berlin, Panacol will be presenting new adhesives for stress relief of wires on commutators, bonding magnets in electric motors, balancing in fan rotors and general bonding applications in the field of e-mobility and automotive electronics.

The UV adhesives in the Vitralit range are suitable for stress relief of wires on commutators. These adhesives are applied to the wire-commutator connection and then cured within a few seconds using UV light. The rapid curing means that commutators can be produced in large quantities with short cycle times.

Special, newly developed dual-curing (UV/moisture) adhesives are available for bonding magnets in electric motors. As magnets are not translucent, the adhesives can only be cured with UV light at the visible edges. In shadow zones, underneath the magnet and in the rotor pockets, they then cure at room temperature and under humidity.

Another new product is a special acrylate adhesive for balancing fan rotors. This UV adhesive with a particularly high density can be jetted into the balancing pockets of fan rotors and thus replaces balancing with metal parts. This process can shorten the production time. The higher precision also reduces the number of rejects.

The UV devices from Hönle are suitable for curing the above-mentioned UV adhesives, as they work with the exact wavelengths required by the UV adhesives
