Prof. Dr. Evgeniya Kabliman joined the management team at the Leibniz Institute for Materials-Oriented Technologies (IWT) in Bremen on 1 April with a focus on digitalization technology. Kabliman is also a newly appointed professor at the University of Bremen and will focus more strongly than before on the topic of digitalization technology in both teaching and research at the Bremen research institute.

With the appointment of the professor, Bremen has gained an interdisciplinary scientist who has increasingly shifted her focus from basic research to applied research over the course of her academic career. This practical perspective will now also be incorporated into the new management position and the new professorship.

The physicist and mathematician completed her doctorate in computer-aided materials science at TU Wien in 2011 and then worked at the Austrian Institute of Technology, where she focused on lightweight construction, in particular simulation-supported technology development and the thermomechanical treatment of metals. Since 2021, she has been able to deepen her expertise in the application of machine learning in materials modeling at the Technical University of Munich as Group Leader Materials Computation. She is now taking the next step in her career with the professorship and head of the Digitization Technology department in Bremen.

At Leibniz-IWT, the field of digitization technology will form a cross-sectional area to the existing fields of materials engineering, process engineering, production engineering and materials testing and will continue to expand in the future.

Kabliman will take up her new teaching position at the University of Bremen in the new summer semester in Faculty 4 - Production Engineering.
