Panacol has developed the new Structalit 5826 VT epoxy resin adhesive for bonding filters for oil, gas and particle filtration. The media-resistant adhesive is particularly suitable for filters used in shipbuilding and engine construction, in exhaust gas purification systems and in the renewable energy industry.
Structalit 5826 VT is a one-component epoxy resin adhesive with high viscosity. This allows the adhesive to be applied between the filter and the filter cap as well as on the longitudinal seam of the filter fabric without undesirable run-off. Nevertheless, it has the property of wetting the filter fabric well and flowing into it, so that it builds up a high adhesive strength and contributes to the force and form fit.
The curing of the epoxy resin adhesive takes place thermally with curing within a few minutes at 150°C in the oven process or alternatively by induction curing. Due to its temperature resistance of up to 200°C, the adhesive is suitable for use in a wide variety of liquid, gas or particle filters.
The new adhesive has passed the reliability test for liquids in accordance with DIN 53521 (70:30 isooctane:toluene) and the oil resistance test after 1000 hours of ageing. Epoxy resin-based adhesives are generally highly resistant to environmental and media influences.
