Semiconductor supplier Infineon Technologies has signed an agreement with silicon carbide (SiC) supplier Siltron.
Under the agreement, SK Siltron will supply the company with 150 mm SiC wafers. In a further phase, SK Siltron will support Infineon in the transition to 200 mm wafers.
According to Angelique van der Burg, Chief Procurement Officer at Infineon, the agreement is intended to implement a multi-supplier strategy and make the supply chain more resilient. This will open up new growth opportunities and help to drive decarbonization. Jianwei Dong, CEO of SK Siltron, also recognizes far-reaching synergy effects for the SiC market through the long-term supply agreement.
