Omron Electronic Components Europe is offering new versions of its encapsulated ultra-subminiature microswitch D2GW. These increase the actuating force to up to 1.5 N and the tripping force to up to 0.1 N with a curved lever of the compact and flexible microswitch series. Like the existing D2GW variants, they are fully sealed to IP67 (except for the terminals in the terminal versions). They operate at temperatures of up to 85 °C. With their small size (8.3 × 6.5 × 5.3 mm), they are the smallest switches of their kind in the industry.
The new models in the D2GW series offer extended applications that are exposed to splash water or heavy dust. This applies to vending machines, smart meters, EV charging stations, security systems, HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) systems, household appliances and similar applications. They retain the sliding contact design. D2GW has a symmetrical shape with the push button in the center. The lever of the version with press-fit terminals and also with molded-in wires can be mounted on the left or right side. Omron's D2GW switches feature a breakthrough contact design to maximize performance. The sliding contact design with dual contacts provides quiet operation and high reliability while wiping away dust and other contaminants.
Omron's D2GW is available in a variety of styles, with mounting structures, actuators and termination specifications to maximize application flexibility. Other options include press-fit terminals for solderless PCB installation as well as solder terminals, PCB terminals and molded wire leads.
