Granite River Labs (GRL), a provider of compliance testing and certification of high-speed digital designs, cables and connectors, has recently opened a new test laboratory for compliance testing in Germany.
GRL relies on Rohde&Schwarz (R&S) for the technology: the manufacturer's existing RTP164 high-performance oscilloscope has now been joined by the ZNB20 vector network analyzer. This enables the test laboratory to offer an even broader range of services relating to established and future digital high-speed technologies.
GRL and R&S are thus deepening their partnership in setting up the test lab in Karlsruhe, which opened in December 2021. The vector network analyzer will expand the laboratory's range of services to include VNA-based measurements for verification, troubleshooting and compliance testing of cables and connectors for Automotive Ethernet, Automotive SerDes Alliance (ASA), USB, HDMI and many other standards. In addition, the lab provides services for the precise characterization and de-embedding of test adapters in digital and high-speed RF applications. The R&S technology complements the range of interface tests based on the previously installed high-performance oscilloscope with additional tests such as return loss and mode conversion measurements, which are required when testing hosts and interfaces, for example.
Martin Stumpf, R&S Market Segment Manager Digital Design Test: "The combination of our measurement know-how with Granite River Labs' expertise in compliance and certification will help our customers bring their products for today's and tomorrow's high-speed digital communications to market faster." Holger Kunz, President of Worldwide Services at GRL, adds: "Germany is an innovation leader in vehicle connectivity, infotainment, charging technology and power management. By combining GRL's expert knowledge with Rohde & Schwarz's expertise, we can support companies in the introduction of next-generation products and solutions."
