RS Components (RS), has added the Tektronix TBS2000B digital storage oscilloscope to its product range. It is aimed at developers in the industrial environment as well as maintenance engineers and technicians. It is also designed for use in the education sector. The TBS2000B is a higher quality, but also more cost-effective successor to the popular TBS2000. It offers a bandwidth of up to 200 MHz, a sampling rate of 2 gigasample/sec. and a low-noise analog front end.
The TBS2000B offers bandwidth options of 200 MHz, 100 MHz and 70 MHz, with field upgrades from lower to higher bandwidths possible. Two or four analog channel models are available with sampling rates of 2 gigasample/sec over two channels or 1 gigasample/sec over four channels. The range also offers a recording capacity of 5 million points.
In addition to the standard sample mode, a "Peak Detection" mode is available to identify peaks, while an "Average" mode helps to reduce noise in repetitive signals. Signals, measurement results and menu information are displayed on a large, clear 9-inch WVGA color display with 15 horizontal divisions. This allows designs to be tested and validated quickly, easily and safely.
The TBS2000B offers 32 automated measurements. Users can select from a single screen without having to search through menus. Measurements are color-coded from the source and displayed on a transparent background so they do not obscure the waveforms.
The TBS2000B provides a new feature called on-waveform cursor readouts. The zoom function allows the user to quickly scroll through a recording and zoom in to pick out details. The search and highlight function allows events in a captured waveform to be identified and highlighted throughout the capture. A dedicated FFT button on the front panel speeds up waveform analysis.
The TekVPI probe interface from Tektronix supports active voltage and current probes - with automatic scaling and units - as well as passive BNC probes. Data such as error conditions are sent directly to the oscilloscope for processing, eliminating the need for manual relocation and demagnetization. A USB 2.0 port is located on both the front and rear. Together with the Ethernet connection, nothing stands in the way of quick and easy data storage as well as PC and network connections. The TBS2000B is also the first oscilloscope in its class to offer WiFi functions.
For educational and training applications, the TSB2000B is fully compatible with TekSmartLab instrument management software. In addition, the oscilloscope offers a courseware function that displays exercises and instructions on the screen. Tektronix offers 100 sample exercises for download. Instructors can disable autoset, cursor and automated measurements, making it easier to teach basic skills.
Another new feature of the TB2000B is HelpEverywhere, which provides instant assistance in navigating through basic menus.
The Tektronix TBS2000B digital storage oscilloscope is supplied by RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
