Semicon Europa, one of the largest international trade fairs for semiconductor products, materials and services in Europe, is also being held in Munich this year alongside productronica (November 16 to 19) - and therefore later than usual. In 2019, it attracted 320 exhibitors and 8,000 visitors to the Munich exhibition grounds. It was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and a virtual catch-up event was held in February 2021 under the name 'Technology Unites Global Summit'. The current face-to-face event will take place in Hall B1 under the current conditions for visitors.
The motto of Semicon Europe 2021 is 'European Ecosystems Connecting the Digital Future', which means it will focus on the fast, reliable and secure digital transformation of semiconductor manufacturing under the keywords AI and IoT. This applies in particular to packaging, including sensors and MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems), MOEMS (Micro-Optoelectronic Mechanical Systems) and photonics. The critical challenges of the latest products and innovations in terms of performance, functionality, form factor and cost reduction will be discussed and demonstrated.
Opening on November 16 at 10:00 a.m. is the traditional all-day Executive Forum with keynotes from Ajit Manocha (President and CEO SEMI), Laith Altimime (President SEMI Europe), Luc Van den hove (President and CEO of imec), Christoph Kutter (Director of Fraunhofer EMFT), and other globally engaged executives. The long-established Fab Management Forum and the Advanced Packaging Conference will follow on November 17 and November 18, both starting at 10:00 am. Other conference events, such as 'MADEin4', will take place in the TechArena in Hall B1. The Silicon Saxony joint stand offers participating exhibitors their own stand areas of up to 3 m². This year, 34 exhibitors are expected at Silicon Saxony under stand number B1221.
