Swiss electronics service provider Variosystems took over the EMS and box build division of Swiss electronics component manufacturer Schurter with Schurter Solutions on July 1, 2024. The production sites in Switzerland and Romania, including the customers and 280 employees, are now being integrated.
With this acquisition, the company is strengthening its supply chain in Europe with a production site in Gruiu (Romania) and expanding its engineering and life cycle management expertise with a second center in Mendrisio (Switzerland).
With the two new sites, the company is doubling its production capacity in Europe. The production site in Gruiu concentrates on high-volume customer programs. The focus at the site in Mendrisio will be on engineering, rapid prototyping and small series production. New customer centers are also planned in northern Italy. The company is also focusing on expanding regional supply chains in North America, Europe, China and Asia-Pacific.
