The sales target for 2028 is CHF 1 billion

The Swiss Komax Group has set itself ambitious targets in the field of industrial automation. It aims to achieve sales of CHF 1.2 billion and an operating result (EBIT) of CHF 120 to 160 million by 2028. This corresponds to annual sales growth of 6 to 9%. ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) is an integral part of the new strategy.

Since the merger with the Schleuniger Group in 2022, Komax has had great growth potential, as only up to 20% of wire processing for automotive applications is automated. The automotive industry, with which the Komax Group generates around 75% of its sales, is undergoing radical change: electromobility, autonomous driving, changes in wire harness design (zonal architecture) and the annual increase of up to 3% in the number of vehicles produced are the growth drivers. The degree of automation is also low in the other market segments - 'Aerospace & Railway' and 'Industrial & Infrastructure'. The Komax Group will continue to pursue the fourth market segment, Data/Telecom, as part of Industrial & Infrastructure.

In order to achieve the targets for 2028, the Board of Directors has adopted four strategic thrusts:

  • Generating added value along the customer journey: by expanding the service business
  • Innovation for automation and quality: Komax will continue to invest 8 to 9% of revenues in R&D
  • Strengthening global customer proximity: in recent years, Komax has generated around 20% of its sales in Asia, which is set to change
  • Development of non-automotive markets with automation potential

The Board of Directors has also defined three initiatives:

  • Scaling Komax and Schleuniger, leveraging strengths to exploit the resulting potential
  • Digital transformation: optimization of processes and supply chains with internal and external digitalization
  • Environmental, social, governance: sustainable management and socially oriented corporate governance

Komax, Schleuniger, adaptronic, Cirris, DiIT and Wustec will be exhibiting together at productronica 2023 in Munich and at SPS 2023 in Nuremberg.
