The Association for the Surface Finishing of Aluminum e. V. (VOA) celebrated its 60th anniversary on June 23, 2022 with the fashion project "stories of surfaces". The new chairman of the association, Friedhelm U. Scholten, welcomed over 130 invited guests from Germany and abroad to the Haus der Kunst in Munich. Then the fashion project "stories of surfaces - 60 years of surface finishing of aluminum in fashion images" was launched, which the VOA implemented together with the AMD Akademie Mode & Design.
During the celebratory anniversary dinner, presented by Feinkost Käfer, presenter Patricia Riekel, fashion expert and former editor-in-chief of the magazine Bunte, presented the collection in several stages, followed by VOA member companies and international guests from politics, business and the media. The crowning glory of the fashion show was an almost three-meter-long coat with around 650 octagonal tiles as a symbol of the surface finishing industry, on which each of the VOA member companies had its own company logo. In this way, the VOA documented the cohesion and creative will of the surface finishing industry. Every tile counts, just as every company is part of the VOA network, because every anodizer, coater and paint stripper contributes their skills and professionalism to the overall work of the association. Over the past 60 years, the VOA has developed into an established trade association that has repeatedly set the tone in the technical development of the surface finishing industry.
