He retired a year and a half ago: the former Managing Director of Umicore Galvanotechnik and Vice President of Umicore Metal Deposition Solutions, Thomas Engert, has now turned 65.
Engert completed a degree in Materials Science & Surface Technology at HTW Aalen in the early 1980s and then worked for almost two decades at Umicore's predecessor Degussa Galvanotechnik in Schwäbisch Gmünd. He became Managing Director there in 2001 and retained this position when the company was taken over by Umicore. With the takeover, he also became Vice President Umicore Business Line Electroplating. Engert was born in Mögglingen on April 13, 1960. He is married and has two sons. The former top man at Umicore Galvanotechnik has a penchant for endurance and outdoor sports such as hiking, mountaineering, sailing, motorcycling and cycling and enjoys traveling to faraway countries - activities to which he can now devote himself extensively and look back on a fulfilling professional life.
