At the beginning of December, an A-level class of 22 students visited the chemical company Schlötter from Geislingen an der Steige and gained an exclusive insight into the fascinating world of electroplating technology.
The day began with an introduction to electrochemistry for the 13th grade of the Heidenheim Technical High School in order to better understand the connections between chemistry, development and industrial processes. During the four group tours, everyone was given the opportunity to use a modern scanning electron microscope, which can be used to visualize sub-microscopic quantities. Afterwards, the students were able to experience the principles of chemical analysis at first hand in the analytical laboratory.
The highlight of the day was the visit to the technical center and the waste water plant. To round off the visit, the Knoblauch electroplating company, which is within walking distance, provided an exclusive insight behind the scenes of a modern industrial electroplating plant. Here, the processes could be observed "live and in color" in practice. The event concluded with lunch together in the canteen. The company shared the news on LinkedIn and Instagram and thanked the A-level class for their great interest.
