chromium(VI): Is thin-film technology an alternative?

A workshop entitled "Impending chromium (VI) ban puts the industry under pressure - prospects with thin-film technology" addresses the dilemma of the constantly tightening regulation of chromium (VI) electroplating and presents prospects using chemical and physical vapour deposition (PVD/CVD).

So far, there are only a few solutions for substituting the chromium(VI) process with its broad spectrum of requirements. The event is being organized by the European Research Association for Thin Films (EFDS). The conference will take place on May 14 and 15, 2024 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology (IWS) in Dresden.

Dr. Malte Zimmer from ZVO will discuss chromium (VI) and the current regulatory framework in more detail at the event. Application-specific coating alternatives will be presented by Oerlikon, Rübig, Nova Coating, Ionbond and CemeCon, among others.
