The funding window for federal funding for industry and climate protection (BIK), which is aimed in particular at energy-intensive sectors such as steel, chemicals, glass and cement, is very small. From March 1, 2025 until May 15, 2025 only, companies can submit project outlines.
Funding rates of up to 60 percent and project funding of up to 200 million euros are planned. There is a particular focus on sub-module 2, which supports investments in the electrification of industrial processes and the use of green hydrogen. Federal funding for industry and climate protection are considered instruments for the economic achievement of environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals. They are intended for medium-sized companies in particular. "The time window is very narrow for many companies," says Nikolai Wiebe, funding expert at EPSA Germany. His consultancy specializes in funding. Funding is available for the electrification of production processes, conversion to renewable hydrogen and substitution of fossil fuels. For electrification projects, 30% funding is available, and up to 60% for the use of renewable hydrogen.
