With Creon Metal Surfaces, the Fachverband Galvanisierte Kunststoffe (FGK) is introducing a new generation of high-quality and sustainable real metal surfaces. The innovative and environmentally friendly process standard combines the advantages and design freedom of plastic injection molding with the high-quality and durable properties of real metal surfaces.
The process for manufacturing Creon surfaces completely dispenses with the use of chromium trioxide and fluorinated surfactants (PFAS) and can therefore be used without REACh authorization. The resulting parts are durable, recyclable and can be recycled. The process was developed jointly by FGK member companies. All manufactured components are 100% recyclable. After being taken back by the manufacturers, the metal components can be reused without loss, while the plastic parts can be reused as regranulate for injection molding without compromising on quality and durability. Components with a recycled content of up to 50% are already being produced today and this proportion is being continuously increased.
Creon surfaces also offer a wide range of design options in terms of colors and textures. The technology is particularly suitable for the high demands of the automotive industry and opens up a wide range of options for designers and manufacturers. The use of texture combinations, 3D shapes and surfaces makes attractive visual and tactile effects possible. The excellent interplay with light and the possible integration of interaction elements significantly improves the impact, user-friendliness and functionality - in short, the design experience - of the components.
