Matching on the training market is delayed in the 2019/20 placement year due to the coronavirus. It can be assumed that more training contracts than usual will not start until after the start of the training year on August 1 or September 1.
It is generally possible to start training later than usual. There is no deadline by which training must have started at the latest. However, it should be noted that it may not be possible to reach the examination date scheduled for the relevant training year at the end of the training and the next examination date may not be until well after the end of the training period.
There is also the option of shortening the training period by the length of time that it started late. This can be a suitable option for high-achieving young people in particular. Such an individual shortening requires an application or contractual agreement as well as consideration when drawing up the company training plan, as all the training content prescribed in the training regulations must be taught in a correspondingly shorter time. The shortening of the training period can already be agreed when the contract is concluded. If the decision to shorten the training period is made at a later date, an application to shorten the training period - signed by both parties to the contract - must be submitted to the relevant chamber.
Even in the case of surface coaters, a field in which there is still a high demand for junior staff, many apprenticeships will not be able to start until later. More on the job profile at www.oberflaechenbeschichter.org
