Horst Lach celebrates 60 years of service

Horst Lach has already amazed us with many of his ideas, inventions or simply by thinking things differently, shaking us up and sometimes even making us hold our breath. On October 1, he went one better: at the age of 80, he celebrated his 60th anniversary with the company.

Horst Lach at LACH DIAMANT's first trade fair stand in Hanover in 1966OnOctober 1, 1960, the young Horst Lach started working for his father and company founder Jakob Lach at Jakob Lach GmbH & Co KG in Bruchköbeler Landstraße in Hanau.

In the following 60 years of service, he grew the 10-man company to over 200 employees at three locations. There is now a production facility in Lichtenau near Chemnitz and LACH DIAMOND Inc. in Michigan, USA. But he has not only conquered the world spatially.

Above all, he had a flair for the world of the diamond industry, which he turned on its head more than once. For example, he was the first to use spark erosion for machining the newly emerged cutting material polycrystalline diamond and thus made series production in the wood-based materials processing industry possible in the first place - without this idea, the low prices of a well-known Swedish furniture company, for example, would not be possible.

Many more of his ideas revolutionized the industry - the astonished faces at Horst Lach's first presentation of the abrasive "Borazon" at the Hanover Trade Fair in 1969 are unforgettable - and made many a competitor "steam up".

He never lets up when it comes to his (sometimes crazy) ideas. And that is exactly what sets him apart. No matter how many of his colleagues and companions condemned his ideas to failure in advance - and he experienced this more than once - Horst Lach is a visionary and visionaries are not deterred by prophecies of doom. He has always seen his ideas through: with vigor, assertiveness, courage, intelligence, shrewdness, perseverance and a great deal of passion.

He has lived this company, its employees, the past and the future for 60 years. There isn't a day when he doesn't check his email inbox and deal with the daily tasks. He has rocked the Lach Diamant ship through some low points and also brought about many great highs.

The LACH DIAMANT team congratulates him for his energy, never-ending ideas, drive and unparalleled dedication.

Congratulations to him! And now keep up the good work!
