Innovative coating process for very small parts

A new coating technology was developed at the EJOT site in Tambach-Dietharz, which makes it possible to achieve a very uniform and thin coating structure for small fasteners, which usually have internal force applications such as TORX® or TORX PLUS®. As a corrosion expert, Dörken supplies the component-specific coating material to EJOT and was also involved in the planning process of the project. This also applies to the third member of the team, the globally active plant manufacturer WMV, whose specialty is machines for surface treatment.

State-of-the-art technology

The results of the last five years or so are impressive: Together, an ideal, component-specific coating was found and the world's first system was developed that can coat 120 kg of material with a change in position at 32 g acceleration. The patent-pending WMV PULZ® system (planetary circulation coating centrifuge) is used to coat small parts with hollow bodies and screws, among other things. Due to the high demands on corrosion protection, a zinc flake system from Dörken is used. The parts are coated evenly, reliably and in a thin layer in the modern PULZ® system thanks to the permanent circulation and simultaneously high acceleration value (32g). This also benefits the environment, as this optimized coating process reducesCO2 emissions by around 30% compared to previous methods.
