DENIOS SE from Bad Oeynhausen has won the OWL Innovation Award "Market Visions 2021 /2022", which is awarded annually by OstwestfalenLippe GmbH to drivers of innovation in the region, with the DENIOS connect web application, which makes it possible to monitor all status data in the hazardous materials warehouse digitally and in real time. As part of a festive ceremony, which due to the coronavirus could only take place on May 24 at the Ostwestfalen Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Bielefeld, DENIOS, Enervate GmbH and Code-Shield GmbH were presented with an award. Jury spokesperson Petra Pigerl-Radtke, Managing Director of IHK Ostwestfalen zu Bielefeld, summarized: "The winners demonstrate how the interplay of engineering skills, user knowledge and IT can lead to leaps in innovation." A total of 95 companies with 96 products and services took part in the competition.
If temperatures rise unnoticed in a hazardous materials storage facility, gas concentrations change or hazardous substances leak, this can quickly develop into a serious hazardous situation for people and the environment. This makes it all the more important for operators to be informed about the status of the hazardous materials storage facility at all times and to be alerted immediately in the event of an emergency. In cooperation with the leading-edge cluster "it's OWL", DENIOS is the first provider in the world to develop DENIOS connect, a cloud-based app that offers precisely this round-the-clock service: Permanent condition monitoring made possible by sensor technology automatically monitors and saves the status of the hazardous materials storage facility and sends an alarm to the previously configured end device in the event of critical deviations. In addition, a visual and audible alarm is triggered at the warehouse. In this way, operators remain capable of reacting even in an emergency.
Overall digital concept impressed the jury
The well thought-out and coherent concept of product, web connection, smart service and networking ultimately won over the jury of the OWL Innovation Award. According to Petra Pigerl-Radtke's assessment published in December 2021, the application shows how a company can consistently digitalize its business model and at the same time be a role model for many other SMEs for the digital transformation of their business models. District Administrator Jürgen Müller, Deputy Chairman of the Shareholders' Meeting of OWL GmbH, also praised all three award winners and competition participants at the ceremony on May 24: "With your ideas, your tenacity and your passion, you impressively demonstrate the innovative strength of our local economy."
Increasing demand for the manufacturer-independent solution
Horst Rose, CSO of DENIOS SE, is visibly delighted with the business award and is very pleased with the groundbreaking success of the digital solution: "DENIOS connect has been a hit from day one. Thanks in part to this innovation, the DENIOS Group's incoming orders increased by more than 25% to almost EUR 230 million," he reports. The innovation, which has been on the market since summer 2021, is now used by large companies worldwide, including in the chemical, mechanical engineering and automotive industries, and continues to offer great market potential. One of the reasons for this is that DENIOS connect is a manufacturer-independent universal solution that can also be retrofitted to hazardous goods warehouses from other manufacturers.
