FlexPower GmbH, PowerField Energy B.V. and Spectral have commenced electricity trading for the battery storage system and photovoltaic plant combination in Wanneperveen, the Netherlands. The project, which comprises a 21 MW battery storage system with a capacity of 52 MWh and a 28 MWp solar power plant, is now operational and actively participating in the Dutch day-ahead and intraday market.
FlexPower is responsible for trading and optimizing the plant combination. Using a fully automated algorithm to optimize the system combination, FlexPower ensures the optimal performance of PV and battery storage, taking into account various grid-specific constraints. This ensures maximum support for the power grid while at the same time exploiting the full yield potential for the battery storage system.
Spectral acts as the provider of the virtual power plant (VPP) and connects the systems to the electricity trader via its STELLAR platform. This integration enables a fully automated operation where the assets are activated based on trading transactions. In addition, STELLAR will enable Powerfield Energy to achieve supplier status for primary control power and secondary control power by acting as the operating system behind Powerfield's Virtual Power Plant.
