Dr.-Ing. Martin Metzner was appointed Adjunct Professor at the Research Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok (MMRI) in February 2021. The adjunct professorship is associated with a commitment to teaching electroplating process and plant technology as part of block lectures for students from various disciplines.
Martin Metzner and his team have been cooperating with Chulalongkorn University since 2015. Together with the MMRI, they have been setting up the research station "Energy Efficiency of Electrochemical Coating Processes and Plants", or "ECOPLATE" for short, there since 2017, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. As an export-oriented nation, Thailand is an important potential partner for Germany. Some large German companies already have production sites there. The professorship makes it easier for Fraunhofer IPA to apply for and carry out projects in the field of electroplating technology with the Thai side.
