Several companies in the mbw Group have filed for insolvency. The mbw Group is a surface refiner of metals with headquarters in Rheinmünster and plants in Lichtenau, Einbeck, Mühlhausen, Sömmerda and Hartha with a total of 320 employees. Business operations will continue without restrictions. The aim of the insolvency applications is to secure the Group's liquidity, restructure it and enable it to make a fresh start.

Meanwhile, insolvency administrator Dr. Dirk Pohl is looking for investors: "Both financial investors and strategic investors are being considered, such as competitors or companies that would like to expand their range with a takeover."

The cause of the economic difficulties is the current economic development in the automotive industry, which is one of the main customers for products from the mbw Group. Recently, several series start-ups were delayed or did not take place as planned. Added to this are financial burdens from cost increases for materials, energy and personnel.

Founded in 1987, the mbw Group is a contract finisher specializing in electroplating and chemical surface treatment. The group primarily covers coatings in the promising areas of anodizing and chromium(III) as well as various zinc processes. The group has invested in equipment and process technology in recent years. Its coating systems are used by renowned companies in the automotive, construction, fittings and electrical industries.
